Matt Hannon and Meagan Butler-Hannon -- Authors

Meagan Butler-Hannon is a high school counselor specializing in social media issues at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) in Austin, TX. Matt Hannon is a video and new-media producer with Happiness Digital, also in Austin. Both have been teachers and served as Dorm Parents in the international student boarding community at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.

Over the course of several years, Matt and Meagan have noticed a trend of misunderstanding and frustration between parents and teens regarding Facebook and other social networking sites. After hosting several Facebook seminars for concerned parents, it became clear that many of the fears and questions parents have about Facebook are the same, and that a little book to address some of these concerns could be helpful.

Meagan and Matt did not grow up with online social networking, but were introduced to it very early on while in their college years. They consider themselves to be in a unique "in between" generation that can empathize with many of the struggles of both parents and teens in regards to technology.

Meagan is a former Teach for America teacher, and holds a Masters Degree in School Counseling from the University of Texas at Austin. She is completed her thesis on Online Social Networking and the Impact on Well-Being.

Matt is a digital media producer, currently producing his thesis film for a Masters in Digital Cinema Production. He has taught classes for teens in digital media, and was the co-creator of the experimental Arc2 Project, a non-profit effort to create the full length feature digital movie Cactuses using only high school students as the crew.
